COMMUNITY and VOCATIONAL COMMITTEE:
SUMMARY: July 14th, 2004
Our new Committee for 2004-2005 has just been appointed by President Gerald and we hope to meet over the next few weeks (allowing for holidays, etc.) to discuss possible events which may be undertaken.
Our Committee members are largely new to the Community and Vocational scene so any suggestions or recommendations would be gratefully received.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE:
SUMMARY: Sept 2004
Applications for the youth leadership awards have now closed for 2004/5. The commmittee continue to seek projects to promote the values of Rotary Service.

COMMUNICATIONS and P.R. COMMITTEE:
SUMMARY: Dated 22/10/2006
Oct 22: We are trying to apply for the PR Grant. 3000 is available. The best option agreed is for a newsletter / feature in the local papers.. Application being sent off this week.
Currently we are using the Notice Board Page as an ongoing Newsletter, updated regularly. For quick reference it may be helpful to add it to Favorites i.e. Newsletter There are links also from Home Page and News

CHRISTMAS HOSPICE RIBBON APPEAL
SUMMARY: Dated:April 27th,2005
The inaugural meeting of the committee took place in the Tower Hotel on Monday , 25th April .
Attendance :

(1) REVIEW
A review took place on the collections received from each of the outlet areas last year and the reasons why some did not contribute as much as might have been expected were discussed with a view to making improvements for this year.
(2) OUTLET POLICY FOR 2005
Dave McCarthy agreed to coordinate the outlet areas again for this year . Donie Ormond will be asked to see if we can get a longer presence in WRH .
The various Tescos will be approached by Des Kelly and contacts will be passed on to Dave .
Nick Donnelly will establish a contact at Ardkeen Stores .
As before Gerry Collins will look after Tramore .
Derek O'Byrne will be approached about WIT .
It was agreed that where possible we would try to arrange our collections for the Thurs., Fri., Sat. (15,16,17 Dec.) .
(3) STORAGE
A storage area for our bits and pieces has been provided by Ger Hurley and same will be passed on to him .
(4) DISPLAYS FOR OUTLETS
This will be further discussed in September and the committee is asked for suggestions .
(5) PORTACABIN & CHERRY PICKER
Again these will be provided through the kind sponsorship by McInerneys who will sponsor the entire project . Ger will undertake to find someone to decorate the portocabin .
(6) PERMISSIONS
Gerry will obtain permission for the Tramore collection , and Nick for the Waterford one from the Gardai .
Nick will also talk to the City Manager with regard to the tree and Fr. Paul will be asked about the cathedral
(7) ASSISTANCE WITH MONEY
Martin O'Hare will provide safe keeping for the collections and Fr. Paul will be asked to help with the coin counting . Nick will provide the banking facillities
(8) Participation
Greater participation will be sought from our fellow Rotarians .
Help will also be sought from Transition year and WIT students .
(9) Ecumenical Service
Again it is hoped that this can be arranged by Fr. Paul and Derek Donnelly
(10) Collection start date at John Robert's Square will be
Saturday 10th December
(11) Cards
A rota will be set up to gather cards which fall from the tree after Christmas .
(11) Meeting
The next meeting will take place in early September (TBA) .
